This past weekend saw the 2014 edition of the famous JCK Las Vegas Show, the leading jewelry event in North America. Every year, domestic and international designers bring together their awe-inspiring collections to showcase the most sought-after trends in a secure environment. This year, this glittering event (pun intended) ran from May 30 to June 2.

What makes JCK Las Vegas such a big deal?

Considered the largest and most important jewelry show in Las Vegas, this event sees the crème-de-la-crème from the world of jewelry designers and manufacturers showing off their creations before a truly global audience! We've put together some of the highlights to tell you what's coming and what we'll have in the coming year.

We noticed lots of big pieces featuring large colorful gemstones and metals in different colors, with dark oxidized gold finishes on diamond jewelry. As the economy recovers we expect more playful and colorful jewelry.

Highlights of JCK Las Vegas 2014

Day 1 saw an exclusive presentation of De Beers' perspectives on the diamond industry. Featuring Philippe Mellier, CEO, De Beers Group; and Stephen Lussier, De Beers’ Executive Vice President of Marketing and Forevermark CEO, the presentation was attended by more than 300 buyers and industry professionals. During the presentation and earlier in an interview with moderator Rob Bates, Senior Editor, JCK Magazine, Mellier discussed the perception that De Beers will be raising prices this year, the synthetic diamond marker, and whether De Beers will be entering said market.

JCK Las Vegas hosted its first ever Shark Tank competition, where six industry-related technology providers competed for attendees' votes for their innovations. New York's TracTech was deemed this year's winner, thanks to their revolutionary inventory tracking technology using RFID chips. A mere wave of a wand can count jewelry inventory and identify missing items - a new frontier in the industry!

GIA (for the third consecutive year) hosted a series of in-booth briefings touching on industry-relevant topics, provided laboratory services where attendees had access to gem identification and country-of-origin services, and exclusive museum displays.

Senior Editor of Style 360, Jennifer Heebner, checked out the jewelry and decided that cocktail rings stole the show! Check out her top 15 selections here.

After days of meetings with the most exclusive dealers in the world, we picked some incredible items. We will be adding pieces daily, subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to see what's new.
